Bonita Bay is a 2,400 acre gated Bonita Springs community of about 3,300 homes, from single family homes to high-rise towers on Estero Bay, with a private beach, three parks, a marina and an optional private club with five golf courses.
Bonita Bay is a 2,400 acre gated community in Bonita Springs, between Spring Creek, the Imperial River and Estero Bay, west of U.S. 41. The Bonita Bay Group, founded by David Shakarian, began it in the mid 1980s, and residents have controlled the Bonita Bay Community Association since 2011. Less than half of the land is developed. The rest is preserve, lakes and open space, with about 12 miles of paths and three waterfront parks.
About 3,300 homes sit in 58 neighborhoods: custom and production single family homes, villas and patio homes, coach homes, low rise condominiums and six high-rise towers on Estero Bay, with a seventh and final tower planned. Every owner belongs to the community association, which runs the gates, roads, patrol, lakes and parks, plus a private gulf front beach on Little Hickory Island with a year round shuttle. Estero Bay Park has an 800 foot boardwalk to a pier and ancient shell mounds, Riverwalk Park has bocce, pickleball and a boat ramp, and Spring Creek Park has a kayak launch.
Bonita Bay Club is a separate, member owned private club, and membership is optional. It has five championship golf courses: Marsh, Creekside and Bay Island by Arthur Hills in Bonita Bay, and Cypress and Sabal by Tom Fazio at the club's Naples campus. The Sports Center has 16 Har-Tru tennis courts, 15 pickleball courts, a croquet lawn and a zero entry pool, and the Lifestyle Center has a fitness center of nearly 20,000 square feet and a 9,000 square foot spa. Bonita Bay Marina, owned by resident investors, has 98 wet slips, 326 dry storage spaces and Backwater Jacks restaurant.
