Pelican Landing is a gated WCI community of 2,237 homes on Estero Bay in Bonita Springs, where the association includes a private 34 acre Gulf island beach reached by shuttle boat, a marina and sailing center, and tennis, pickleball and fitness centers. Golf is optional at two private clubs.
Pelican Landing covers about 2,365 acres along Estero Bay in Bonita Springs, between US 41 and the bay, with 59 lakes, preserves and mangroves along Spring Creek. WCI Communities, then Westinghouse Communities, built the first home in 1989. This first phase has 31 neighborhoods and 2,237 homes on the 2026 Lee County roll, from single family and estate homes to villas, cottages and low and mid rise condominiums, most built between 1991 and 2000. It is built out. The Colony at Pelican Landing, the second phase with about 1,170 more homes including high rise towers, shares the association amenities and is listed separately.
The Pelican Landing Community Association assessment covers every amenity except golf, plus basic cable, internet and 24 hour gated security. Its centerpiece is a 34 acre private beach park on Big Hickory Island, reached by a 12 minute shuttle boat across Estero Bay and open 364 days a year. The association also runs a tennis center with 12 Har Tru courts (7 lighted) and a full time pro, six pickleball and two bocce courts, a 4,200 square foot wellness center, a community center with a year round calendar, a kayak and canoe park on Spring Creek, three fishing docks and a butterfly garden. At Coconut Point Marina on Estero Bay, owners can take out sailboats and kayaks, take free sailing lessons and lease boat slips. Most neighborhoods also have their own association, and many condo and villa neighborhoods have their own pools.
Golf is optional and not part of the assessment. The Nest, formerly Pelican's Nest Golf Club, is a private club inside the gates with two Tom Fazio courses, Gator and Hurricane, open to residents and nonresidents. The Colony Golf and Country Club has an 18 hole Jerry Pate course. Homes are in the Bayside Improvement or Bay Creek community development districts, assessed on the Lee County tax bill.
