Shadow Wood is a gated community of 1,481 homes in 34 neighborhoods inside The Brooks in Estero, set among lakes and preserve, with optional membership in the member owned Shadow Wood Country Club and its three golf courses.

Shadow Wood sits at Coconut Road and Three Oaks Parkway in Estero, inside The Brooks. Bonita Bay Group opened it in 1998, and the community is built out, with most homes dating from 1999 to 2007. Its 1,481 homes in 34 neighborhoods range from coach home condominiums and villas to single family and custom estate homes, set among 85 lakes, about 350 acres of preserve and 13 miles of walking and biking paths.

Every owner belongs to the Shadow Wood Community Association, which provides 24 hour gated access and patrol, maintains the roads and common landscaping, and includes fiber TV and internet in its annual assessment. Most neighborhoods also have their own association. Homes are in the Brooks of Bonita Springs community development districts, assessed on the Lee County tax bill.

Shadow Wood Country Club has been member owned since 2010, and membership is optional; residents and nonresidents may apply, with residents getting priority on the golf waiting list, and some homes carry a transferable golf membership. Golf members play three courses renovated by Rees Jones: North and South on the main campus and the Preserve course about four miles north. The club also has eight Har Tru tennis courts, three covered and lighted bocce courts, and dining that includes a sushi bar, with a resort pool, poolside dining and six indoor pickleball courts scheduled to open in 2026. There is no dining minimum. Owners may also join The Commons Club, a separate membership with fitness, spa and a private beach club on Little Hickory Island.
